Cheffins Charitable Strategy

With so many competing demands from charities of all types, Cheffins decided to create a local charitable giving strategy which focuses on local community activities. Alongside this approach, our staff are encouraged to participate in a wide range of charitable events – from walking the Great Wall of China or climbing Kilimanjaro to less spectacular but valuable events.

The firm's own giving is mainly channelled through the Cheffins Community Fund which is managed by Cambridgeshire Community Foundation (see below). Occasional donations are made direct to organisations which have a special link to Cheffins – such as a donation to Addenbrooke's Hospital for essential equipment.

The Cambridgeshire Community Foundation (CCF), an independent charity (1103314), makes grants to local grass root community groups. Individuals, families, business, public sector organisations, and other charitable trusts make this possible by setting up Funds with CCF.

CCF's purpose is to provide a grant making and fund management service to donors, while supporting projects that make a real difference to the quality of life for local people. Since set up in early 2004 the CCF, working in partnership with local and national businesses, charitable trusts, local government and individuals, has distributed over £5m to over 2000 groups across Cambridgeshire.
